Untranslatables: a guide to translingual dialogue

Visuals for the art book: Untranslatables, a guide to translingual dialogue

Untranslatables is not a dictionary. It is not an encyclopedia. It is not a language course, a grammar book or linguistic research: It is an imaginary word universe that shows gaps and (im)possibilities. It reflects the inability to name everything there is, and the indomitable human desire to do so. It is a colourful answer for the grey zone in our daily vocabularies.

We Us All
concept / design publicity image and costume design of performance: We Us All

We Us All is a performance that plays with the complexity of the contemporary collective and tries to tell a communal story, even when we are only spectator. It is a mental, poetic journey through shared stories, myths and history that confronts us with the joy and the emptiness where the ‘spectacle’ leads us.

Theatre Frascati WG, Amsterdam. Premiere: May 27th 2009

How They Disappeared
concept / design publicity image and costume design of performance How They Disappeared

A performance which plays with our need for meaning and recognition in movement, language and emotion. On a human being, un-becoming, shifting from the individual towards the material. And another human being staring after her and staying behind with an emptiness, a space for imagination.

Concept/choreography: Sarah Vanhee
Theatre Frascati WG, Amsterdam. Premiere: March 27th 2008
